HM King reiterates Bahrain commitment to closer ties and broader cooperation with China

Bahrain is committed to strengthening ties and cooperation with China at all levels while highlighting the promising investment opportunities provided by the Kingdom across various vital sectors.

In particular, the Kingdom is keen on broadening cooperation in the fields of investment, economy, trade and science, in addition to areas of bilateral coordination and joint action for the benefit of both countries and their people.

This was emphasised by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa who received at the Gudaibiya Palace yesterday the Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Affairs Minister, Wang Yi. HM King Hamad hosted a lunch banquet in honour of the Chinese Minister and his accompanying delegation.

Currently, on a visit to the Kingdom, Wang was also received by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, at Riffa Palace yesterday.

HM the King expressed Bahrain’s pride in its solid long-standing relations with China, noting that they have been based on strong foundations of mutual trust and respect, as well as joint cooperation and coordination across all fields.

Referring to the coronavirus pandemic and the efforts being exerted to contain it, HM the King praised the effective and fruitful cooperation between the two countries, especially the vaccination drive as well as an exchange of expertise.

The Chinese Minister expressed pride in the efforts being made by HM King Hamad to enhance the Kingdom’s relations with China, stressing that his country is committed as well to broadening cooperation.

He also lauded the role played by HM the King in Bahrain’s progress.

Wang conveyed to HM King Hamad greetings from the Chinese President, Xi Jinping, as well as his wishes of further progress and prosperity to the people of Bahrain.

In return, HM the King requested the Chinese Foreign Minister to convey his greetings to President Xi Jinping, and wishes of more progress and prosperity to China and its people.

HM, the King also lauded the Chinese expatriate community’s role and good contributions to the Kingdom’s economic and trade march.

Wang conveyed with HRH Prince Salman the greetings of the China President and the greetings of the Premier of the State Council of China, Li Keqiang.

In response, His Royal Highness extended his sincere greetings to both the President and Prime Minister of China. His Royal Highness highlighted the wide-ranging growth in relations between Bahrain and China, which continues to be supported by cooperation across various sectors.

His Royal Highness noted that the COVID-19 pandemic has added a new dimension to international cooperation driven by humanitarian principles and commitment to full economic recovery.

HRH Prince Salman noted the Kingdom’s role as a key partner to the UAE and China in COVID-19 phase III clinical trials. They also discussed ways to further strengthen bilateral trade and economic cooperation.
