Strengthening Bahrain and Indian relations

His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, has always been appreciative of the valuable contributions the Indian community to the Kingdom.
Bahrain, home to many religious communities, maintains its long-standing support to fostering religious and cultural tolerance.

In 2017, while paying a visit to a number of families to mark Diwali, HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister emphasised the important role Islam plays in promoting coexistence between all religions and cultures.

HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister noted that this Diwali also represents an opportunity to celebrate the important and valuable contributions the Indian community has made to the Kingdom.

Last year, during his official visit to the Kingdom, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on the side-lines of the Prime Minister’s official visit to the Kingdom of Bahrain, met HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister who highlighted the strength of relations between Bahrain and India, which continue to expand across all levels, in line with His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa’s vision.

HRH the Crown Prince recalled the various mutual visits that have taken place over recent years, which have been reflected by positive growth in bilateral cooperation across various sectors.

HRH the Crown Prince highlighted the Kingdom’s commitment to further strengthening bilateral cooperation, which will contribute to increased investment and opportunities, benefitting both countries and their citizens.

HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister paid special attention to the Indian community within Bahrain, highlighting their contributions to the Kingdom’s economic development.

HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister further noted the Kingdom’s continued commitment to further strengthening cooperative ties with India, in order to support the sustainable development goals of both countries.

HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister met Indian Minister of External Affairs Sushma Swaraj, at Riffa Palace in 2018.

During the meeting, His Royal Highness and the Minister of External Affairs noted the strength of long-standing bilateral ties between India and Bahrain.

His Royal Highness and the Minister of External Affairs highlighted the important role played by the India-Bah- rain High Joint Commission in broadening cooperation between both countries.

HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister met the Chief Minister of Kerala, Pinarayi Vijayan in 2017.
During the meeting, His Royal Highness highlighted the strength of relations between Bahrain and India, and the importance of further strengthening ties through enhanced bilateral cooperation, and to further work on the achievements reached through bilateral agreements.


HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister praised the efforts of Bahrain’s and India’s private sectors, highlighting their strong bonds and continuous communication, and their efforts to explore new business opportunities, which help to further, strengthen economic, trade and investment relations.


In this regard, HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister recalled his visit to Kerala in 2013 and other visits to India, which resulted in the signing of a number of agreements that have benefited both countries
 HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister noted the strength of India’s economy, which is considered a model for economic development, and the level of success it has achieved in confronting various economic challenges.

HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister referred to his visit to India in 2013 during his meeting with the then Kerala Chief Minister Oommen Chandy as well in the same year.

Referring to his visit to Kerala, HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister thanked the chief minister for the kind hospitality he received, and ex- pressed his wish to see more such visits between officials of both countries in order to further boost bilateral cooperation.
