Association to host Pongal celebrations
Bharathi Association will organise Pongal festival celebrations on January 17 on the premises of Indian Club. Nearly 3,000 people are expected to take part, according to the organisers. The celebration starts at 10 am with Kolam decorations, Pongal rituals, Tamil cultural dances, sports event such as “Uri Adithal”, tug of war, sports and games for all ages.
Traditional cultural events will be presented by the members choreographed by renowned dance teacher Hansul Gani. Pongal feast will be arranged for the members and guests with a variety of Tamil cuisine vegetarian dishes served in traditional banana leaf, the organisers said in a statement issued.
The musical extravaganza will start at 6.30 pm. Director and playback singer Raja King, playback singer Faridha and folk songs celebrity Guru Ayyadurai will be entertaining the audience. The entrance is free of charge. For more details contact: 33447111, 39239654, 39403909 or 34154655.
