Bahrain to sign MoU with OHCHR

The Kingdom of Bahrain is looking forward to signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) to launch a programme of cooperation in fields of technical assistance and capacity-building between the two sides, said Foreign Minister Shaikh Khalid bin Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Khalifa.
During a telephone conversation with Prince Zeid bin Ra’ad Al Hussein, the High Commissioner for Human Rights, yesterday, the Minister reiterated Bahrain’s zero-tolerance policy towards human rights violations. He also highlighted the country’s commitment to upholding internationally acknowledged human rights standards by addressing allegations of human rights abuses through its independent judiciary and accountability mechanisms.
The High Commissioner for Human Rights said that the OHCHR was looking forward to the prospective cooperation programme with the Kingdom of Bahrain. He also commended the OHCHR for its role in the promotion and protection of universal human rights.
