Coca-Cola volunteers provide water to labourers

Manama

As part of thirst quenching initiative of the Coca-Cola Bottling Company of Bahrain, volunteers have been helping providing water and drinks to labourers working under the scorching heat.

Over 7,500 cans of Fanta Citrus and 7,500 bottles of Arwa water were  distributed around Bahrain in two months.  Last week the teams covered areas in Hamad Town and Saar.

Managing Director Mohammed Akeel said, “This is truly a blessing to those toiling under the intense heat. I am sure those who have taken part in this inititative will testify how this small gesture touched their heart.”

A long time participant, Fatima Al Dagher, wrote, “I joined the thirst quenchers in 2009 and ever since I have been involved in several volunteering projects. The value of volunteering should never be underestimated. Today, my nephews and nieces are also part of this group.  This alone inspires me to do more.”

Public Affairs Coordinator Duduzille Dube said, “We can only imagine what it is like, being out in the field for days, wearing an overall and hardhat. Even a drop of cold water is welcomed with open palms. There certainly is more happiness in giving than in receiving.”

The activity will be held Fridays and Saturdays till the end of September. Volunteers have to bring their own cars and the company will provide them with cool boxes containing beverages and water.
