Linking future via road

Manama

Prime Minister HRH Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa has ordered the construction of a fourth causeway that will link Muharraq with the capital, Manama. The causeway will connect North Busaiteen and Bahrain Bay.

HRH Premier also issued an order to construct a tunnel on Al Fateh Highway at Juffair Interchange to ease traffic congestion, especially of incoming traffic from north Manama towards Juffair.

The Ministry of Works, Municipalities and Urban Planning had been assigned the implementation of both projects and coordination of the necessary financial allocations.

Works Minister Essam Khalaf briefed the Prime Minister on the phases of construction of the two projects. Prince Khalifa also reviewed the blueprints of the projects.

Emphasising government’s keenness to implement vital projects to ease citizens’ commutation between districts, he said, “The focus will be on roads development projects where there are traffic snarls. It’s to maintain a level of development commensurate with the increase in the number of people and road users.” The Prime Minister praised the role of the Ministry of Works in implementing government’s strategy in developing and modernising road and causeway networks to ease traffic congestion.

Prince Khalifa also stressed the government’s support to infrastructure projects for their vital role in boosting development and economic activity. In the meeting, the Works Minister lauded the Premier for his constant support to development plans, which is considered the drive to expedite the implementation of projects.
