Riffa Gets a New Traffic Link

New 2.5-kilometre road aims to improve traffic flow and connectivity in the area

The Ministry of Works has opened Boulevard Road in Riffa to traffic as part of its ongoing efforts to develop the road network and improve traffic flow in the area.

The new road forms an additional link within the area’s road network. Boulevard Road consists of two lanes in each direction and extends for approximately 2.5 kilometres, connecting Zallaq Avenue with Sheikh Khalifa bin Salman Avenue.

As part of the wider development associated with the project, the Ministry previously constructed a U-turn road on Shaikh Khalifa bin Salman Avenue at its intersection with Zallaq Avenue. The U-turn road extends for approximately 1.3 kilometres and is designed to improve traffic movement and facilitate access to surrounding areas and services.

The U-turn also helps reduce detour distances, ease pressure on intersections along Zallaq Avenue and improve overall traffic flow in the area.

The project also included widening the right-turn lane from Zallaq Avenue to Sheikh Khalifa bin Salman Avenue from one lane to two lanes, increasing road capacity and improving traffic flow at the junction.

The projects are expected to support smoother traffic movement in Riffa as the area continues to experience urban development and an expansion of various projects and facilities, including educational and service facilities.

The Ministry said the continued development of the road network is needed to improve its efficiency in line with the growing number of road users, facilitate access to surrounding areas and facilities, and support both current and future traffic demand.
