Youth, Heritage and Technology Meet at ‘Al Freej’

Youth Affairs Minister Rawan bint Najeeb Tawfeeqi attended the launch of the “Al Freej” (Neighbourhood) Festival, organised by the Ministry of Youth Affairs at the Northern Sehla Youth Empowerment Centre in cooperation with the Mawrooth Committee.

The festival brings together Bahraini heritage and culture with creativity and technology through a range of activities designed for young people, children and families.

During her visit, the minister toured the festival’s various sections, which feature traditional games, crafts and professions, technology and space activities, arts and theatre, esports and sports activities.

The festival also includes a youth market providing young people with an opportunity to showcase their projects and products, alongside a mental health section and participation from productive families.

Tawfeeqi said the festival reflects the ministry’s approach to bringing youth activities into local communities and creating spaces where young people can showcase their talents, develop their ideas and take the lead in community activities.

She highlighted the festival’s combination of heritage, arts, technology, sports and youth projects, saying it offers diverse experiences for different community segments while connecting Bahrain’s cultural heritage with the interests and aspirations of young people.

The festival targets young people aged 15 to 35, as well as children and families, aiming to encourage greater youth participation in neighbourhood and community activities while supporting youth-led community initiatives.
