Qatar Welcomes First Leisure Charter Flight from Armenia

Weekly FlyOne service from Yerevan expected to bring around 6,500 Armenian visitors to Qatar through May 2027

Qatar welcomed its first leisure charter flight from Yerevan, Armenia, at Hamad International Airport (HIA), marking a significant step in the growth of inbound leisure tourism and the diversification of the country’s visitor source markets.

The service is operated by FlyOne in partnership with Rustar Tour Operator, connecting Yerevan and Doha with a weekly Airbus A320 flight. The charter programme will operate until May 15, 2027, and is expected to bring approximately 6,500 visitors from Armenia to Qatar during the contracted period.

The inaugural service is also the first leisure charter flight to arrive in Qatar following the recent regional operational disruption, signalling a return to normal operations and renewed confidence in the destination among travellers, tourism partners and the aviation sector.

To mark the occasion, Visit Qatar and Hamad International Airport staff organised a special reception for arriving passengers.

Guests were welcomed with traditional Arabic coffee and dates, while Qatari and Armenian flags were displayed to celebrate the new connection between the two countries. Visitors also received Visit Qatar gift bags as part of the welcome ceremony.

The new charter service strengthens Qatar’s position as a welcoming leisure destination and highlights the continued operation of its tourism, hospitality and aviation sectors. It also reflects ongoing cooperation between Qatar and international airlines, travel operators and hospitality partners to provide seamless experiences for visitors.

The launch is expected to strengthen tourism ties between Qatar and Armenia while creating opportunities for further charter operations and potentially scheduled air connectivity between the two markets.
