UK bid to resolve stir outside embassy peacefully: Envoy
Manama : Simon Martin, the UK ambassador to the Kingdom of Bahrain, has said that his country’s government is monitoring the situation in front of the Bahraini embassy in London and is trying to resolve the issue through legal and peaceful means without any political complications. The British ambassador said during his meeting with MP Jamal Bu Hasan, that the actions of some (Outside Bahraini embassy in London) will not harm the relations between the two countries because of their power and strength. The British Ambassador praised the close relations between Bahrain and Britain, saying that these relations are growing day-by-day at all levels and in all fields.
MP Jamal Bu Hasan conveyed to the British ambassador, the Bahraini people’s condemnation of what is happening in front of the Bahraini embassy in London, by a group of mobsters, most of whom are wanted in Bahrain or are asylum seekers (under observation) in Britain. “Ali Mushaima is trying to get his father, Hassan Mushaima, who is accused of being a terrorist, to leave Bahrain and go abroad for treatment. He claims that the latter is suffering from diabetes and high blood pressure. All these are untrue. All that he wants is to smuggle out Hassan Mushaima,” Jamal Bu Hasan told the Tribune.
Bu Hasan added that what is currently being practised in front of the Bahraini embassy in London, by a group of outlaws, is road terror, and not a peaceful demonstration. The MP pointed out that this mob in London is harassing Bahraini citizens - students, patients and others who have certain benefits at the embassy, because of their stay in Britain. During his meeting with the British ambassador, MP Jamal Bu Hasan called for support from Britain to get Bahrain membership in the Human Rights Council.
The MP said that British support is important, and is of utmost importance to the Bahraini human rights issues, given the Kingdom’s commitment to the noble principles of human rights. MP Jamal Bu Hasan praised the deep-rooted Bahraini-British relations, historical ties extending to more than 200 years of friendship and love.
