PM stresses for joint efforts to fight terror

Manama

Stressing the need for concerted efforts to fight terrorism, Prime Minister HRH Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa has called for continuous coordination between the executive and legislative branches to ensure that the legislation and laws are strong enough to deter the threat of terrorism.

“The constant executive-legislature communication will also stymie attempts by some sides to exploit national issues to achieve non-national goals,” he said, adding: “Bahrainis have, throughout history, proved unity against those powers who seek to target the country’s social fabric. Bahrain will always remain a role model of co-existence, love and peace.”

“Keeping channels of communication between the two branches open will pave the way for quickly addressing many issues. It would contribute to improving the standards of living,” he pointed out while speaking to a number of MPs and Shura Council members, in the presence of former Speaker Khalifa Al Dhahrani and a number of senior state officials at the Gudaibiya Palace here
yesterday.

HRH the Premier said that members of the legislative branch were basic partners in national achievements and played a pivotal role in gaining the Kingdom landmark accomplishments at the global level.

Commenting on the constant follow-up on all procedures taken by the Ministries and the government departments, he reiterated his personal follow-up of all issues raised by the mass media or the legislative branch.

Reflecting on obtaining the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) Award in sustainable development, Prince Khalifa remarked that any international appreciation he got was in recognition for the Bahrain people’s patriotic dedication and contributions.

“The feelings of love showcased by the Bahraini citizens towards me cannot be matched by any international honouring.”

Meanwhile, MP Abdulrahman Al Buali commented that the citizens of Bahrain had honoured the Premier with “shields of love and loyalty” for his tireless efforts to develop the nation and fulfil their aspirations.
