Parliament Speaker highlights Bahrain’s commitment to partnerships and sustainable peace
Parliament Speaker Ahmed bin Salman Al Musallam has affirmed that the Kingdom’s foreign policy, under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and with the support of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, is based on the belief that lasting security and peace can only be achieved through constructive cooperation and effective partnerships.
Speaking at the opening high-level session of the fourth Marrakech Parliamentary Economic Forum for the Euro-Mediterranean and Gulf region, Al Musallam highlighted Bahrain’s commitment to strengthening bilateral and multilateral relations with Mediterranean and European countries to support stability, development and shared interests.
The forum, held in Marrakech from June 19-20, 2026, is held under the patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI of Morocco and organised by the Parliamentary Assembly of the Mediterranean and Morocco’s House of Councillors, in partnership with the Parliamentary Network of the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund.
Al Musallam said Bahrain, as an island nation located in the heart of the Arabian Gulf, fully recognises that maritime security is closely linked to economic security, while freedom of navigation remains essential for the global economy.
He noted that economics and politics have a deep and interconnected relationship, serving as key foundations for countries in shaping policies, managing affairs and achieving national interests.
The Parliament Speaker added that the forum provides an opportunity to examine major economic transformations, address regional challenges, identify strategic opportunities and strengthen regional cooperation.
He stressed that advancing a Euro-Mediterranean and Gulf framework would create greater opportunities for economic integration and closer cooperation among countries and peoples.
