Dr. Mohammed bin Mubarak Juma, Minister of Education, attended the foundation stone laying ceremony for the new Alliance Française Bahrain building in Adliya, Manama, organised by the Embassy of the French Republic to the Kingdom of Bahrain.

The event was attended by Eric Giraud-Telme, Ambassador of France to Bahrain, Olivier Cadic and Rémy Pointereau, members of the French Senate, and Nathalie Delattre, Minister Delegate for Relations with Parliament and former minister.

Dr. Juma highlighted the longstanding relations between Bahrain and France across various domains, particularly education and culture. He expressed the Kingdom’s appreciation for the work of the Alliance Française in teaching the French language in Bahrain and enhancing cultural and artistic ties between the two countries, wishing that the new building would expand the reach of its programmes and activities.

Ambassador Giraud-Telme commended the strong bilateral relations between the two countries and the support of the Bahraini government led by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, for joint educational and cultural projects. He also commended the role of the Ministry of Education in advancing cooperation in the education sector.

French Senate member Olivier Cadic, representing French citizens abroad, and Ahmed Al Jawahery, Chairman of the Alliance Française in Bahrain, also delivered welcoming remarks outlining the new building and the organisation’s future plans.

The Education Minister then toured the exhibition with the French Ambassador and guests to view preliminary designs for the future building, and a presentation film on the project was also shown.
