Dr. Sharifa Adel explained that both coffee and matcha can be beneficial for skin health when consumed in moderation, as both contain antioxidants that help protect skin cells from damage caused by free radicals.
She noted that coffee may help improve blood circulation and support skin vitality, while matcha is rich in powerful antioxidants, especially catechins, which may help reduce inflammation, calm the skin, and support a healthy glow.
However, Dr. Adel stressed that the real concern is not the drinks themselves, but the added ingredients that often come with them, such as sugar, sweetened milk, flavored syrups, and creamers.
She explained that excessive sugar intake may increase inflammation in the body and negatively affect collagen, which can contribute to dull skin and early signs of aging.
Dr. Adel added that choosing healthier versions of these drinks (such as reducing sugar and avoiding heavily sweetened additives) can help maximize their benefits for both overall health and skin appearance.
She concluded by emphasizing that maintaining healthy skin also depends on a balanced lifestyle, including proper hydration, good nutrition, and quality sleep.
