Indian embassy nearing completion

Expected to be completed by December

The construction of the Indian embassy in Seef District is likely to be over by December, it was announced. The works behind construction of the Indian Embassy building was due to be completed last month. However, it was delayed due to certain technical issues.

Previous Indian Ambassador Dr. Mohan Kumar had announced during an open house on February 28 that the works would be completed by July. However, it has now been revealed that the works will not be completed for another four months at least.

The project is being handled by Abdul Rahman Al Mansouri Contracting Company under the supervision of ‘Engineering Service India Private Limited’ who is the consultant for the project. The ‘Middle East Architects SPC’ is also working on behalf of Engineering Service India Private Limited in Bahrain. The total cost of the construction is estimated to be around 2.8 Million Bahrain Dinars.

Middle East Architects SPC Site Engineer Steve Philip told DT News that no further delays are expected. "It is nearing its completion and likely to be over by December," he said, without elaborating on the reasons for the delays. The new Indian Embassy building will have an area of 8300Sq Meters. It will have the facilities including an Embassy office, a 600-seater multi- purpose hall, consular hall, conference hall, library as well residence for embassy staff.

Indian Embassy Second Secretary Anand Prakash said that with the establishment of the new building, applicants will benefit immensely. "In effect, applicants will be more at convenience. There will be more space and the overall experience at the embassy will be better,” he said. Indian Embassy is has been operated in a rental office since 1974. The Indian Embassy started its operation in 1973 here in Bahrain and P.M.S Malik was assigned as the First Indian Ambassador to the Kingdom.
