Jail term upheld in drug case
Manama
A Gulf citizen, who was accused of possessing hashish, has had his jail term upheld. The defendant was earlier sentenced to six months in prison with BD500 fine.
The defendant was nabbed on March 20 two years ago on the Bahraini side of the King Fahad Causeway after stirring up the suspicions of the customs officials.
Apart of the hashish, several types of other illicit drugs were found in the car during inspection. During interrogation, the man had confessed that the drugs belonged to him, though he pleaded not guilty when appeared before the High Criminal Court. He will be deported once he completes his jail term.
