F1 security stepped up

ManamaDirector of Protocol at the Interior Ministry, Lt-Col Hamad Al Hajri yesterday asserted that all precautionary security measures were taken for the race.

Security steps, Al Hajri said, weren’t limited to the Bahrain International Circuit, but also include the deployment of police and traffic patrols on main roads leading the circuit.

The move follows the directives of Interior Minister and the follow-up of the Chief of Public Security to take the necessary steps to contribute to the success of the Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix (Formula One).

He also called upon the public to cooperate with the police and avoid bringing banned items to the circuit.

Meanwhile, the Head of Investigation at the General Directorate of Southern Governorate Police, Captain Ibrahim Al Kaabi highlighted the security plans for the event that were finalised after various meetings.

He called upon the public to come to the event early, park their car in the appropriate parking lots and cooperate with the police for the success of the race.
