Finding the fun Formula

The F1 fever isn’t complete without enthusiastic fans getting a one-on-one ‘meet and greet’ session with their favourite race car drivers.   One of the major highlights from the second day at the Bahrain Grand Prix 2018 was the Autograph Session that took place early in the afternoon yesterday. Lewis Hamilton and Valtteri Bottas of World champions Mercedes, interacted with fans at the Mercedes stand at BIC’s Formula 1 Village vending area.

Race goers had started to line-up hours earlier than the allocated time so to ensure they don’t miss out on this once in a lifetime opportunity.

While the weather was cloudy and pleasant during the early hours of the morning, the scorching heat had taken over as noon settled, but it did not deter F1 enthusiasts from getting an autograph and a memorable ‘selfie’ with their idols. Speaking to DT News, brother and sister duo ‘Joe Hattan and Rosy Hattan’ were excited and a little nervous as they met and successfully got their autographs, flown in all the way from UK. “We are major Lewis Hamilton fans and this trip is a birthday treat for my brother that I know he will remember for years,” Rosy said.

While there were many outside visitors, locals were also lined-up in anticipation to get an up-close experience of meeting their favourite race car drivers. Hakeem stood for almost 80 minutes to ensure he and his children meet Bottas. “It is amazing how Bahrain has embraced such a major sport, hence it is our duty to pass the interest and excitement on to our children.” While many were able to get their shirts and pictures autographed, to the disappointment of others(who had joined the queue a little later), the drivers had to leave the session after almost 45 minutes. There is a ‘Driver’s Autograph Session’ expected to take place today (Sunday) at 2pm.
