15 projects on way to ease congestion

Manama : The government has given green light to 15 projects that would help ease traffic congestion at a number of intersections in the Kingdom. 

The move, which forms part of a short-term programme of works, falls in line with the directives of HRH Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister. 

This was announced by the Minister of Works, Municipalities Affairs & Urban Planning, Essam bin Abdulla Khalaf citing the approval given by the Government Executive Committee. 

The plan, part of the second set of projects, Khalaf said, is part of a comprehensive project aimed at developing the Kingdom’s road networks, which includes the construction of tunnels and flyovers, and the expansion of Bahrain’s main highways.  “All projects will take between three to five years to complete,” the Minister confirmed. 

The Minister highlighted that the ministry has successfully implemented nine projects as part of the first phase of works. 

“This includes the creation of new access and exit points to Zayed Town and Hawrat A’Ali, new lanes off Budaiya Roundabout, and additional lanes along Shaikh Isa bin Salman Highway at its intersection with Shaikh Salman Highway,” the minister said.

2.  The addition of a left turn from the Dry Dock Highway to Hatim AL Taei Highway in Hidd

3.  The addition of a right turn at the Dry Dock Interchange (Shaikh Khalifa bin Salman Causeway)

4.  The creation of a right lane from Wali Al Ahad Roundabout to Shaikh Khalifa bin Salman Highway

5.  The addition of two left turns from Riffa Avenue to Muharraq Avenue

6. The expansion of Nasser bin Jabr Al Jabr Avenue in Seef District

7.  The revamp of Al Mahzoora and Estiqlal Highway Interchange - Riffa

8.  A new access point from Shaikh Isa bin Salman Causeway to Busaiteen Area

9.  The revamp of Avenue 47 in Sanad

10. A revamp of signal-controlled intersections along Sheikh Jaber Al Ahmad Al Sabah Highway

11. The construction of an exit point to Buri from Shaikh Khalifa bin Salman Highway

12. The revamp of Avenue 41 from Road 4109 to Road 4013 in Isa Town’s Educational District

13. The construction of a new access road to Salmabad

14. The construction of an access point from Shaikh Salman Highway to Riyadh Avenue in Isa Town

15. The expansion of Shaikh Khalifa bin Salman Highway from Roundabout 6 to Wali Al Ahad Interchange.
