Minister visits EWA pavilion

ManamaElectricity and Water Affairs (EWA) Minister Dr. Abdulhussain bin Ali Mirza visited EWA pavilion at the Bahrain International Garden Show (BIGS-2018), which opened on February 22, under the patronage of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa.

The four-day annual event held under the theme “Food Safety and Human Health” and runs until Sunday is being supported by Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al-Khalifa, Wife of HM the King, Supreme Council for Women (SCW) President and Head of the National Initiative for Agricultural Development (NIAD). 

The minister paid tribute to HM the King for patronizing the annual exhibition, hailing the constant support of HRH Princess Sabeeka to develop the agricultural sector in line with the royal vision. 

During the visit, the minister extended the EWA’s sincere thanks and appreciation to His Majesty the King for his kind patronage.

He said the show is great support for the agricultural sector.  He commended the efforts of Her Royal Highness and her continuous support to the advancement of the agricultural sector to keep pace with Bahrain’s development process and to achieve the vision of His Majesty.

The minister said the EWA is keen to participate in the annual event to raise awareness and promote a culture of rational consumption of water esources for different groups and to highlight the importance of following the best ways to use water.

Methods of avoiding waste and depletion of this wealth are also demonstrated.

He said the participation focusses on the importance of the best ways to use water at home and recycling. The pavilion showcased an actual housing unit with a kitchen and a realistic garden, with a modern irrigation system, which contributed to significantly reducing water consumption and the monthly bill.

He said the members of the public were able to meet with EWA officials and engineers who gave advice on the developments in the field of rational consumption and preservation of the environment.
