Stop violence against women

ManamaThe United Nations Information Centre (UNIC Manama), along with its partners, yesterday launched a campaign calling for concerted efforts to end violence against women and girls. 

The campaign titled “Orange”, on the occasion of International Day to End Violence against Women & Girls was held at the A’ali Mall under the theme “Leave No One Behind: End Violence Against Women and Girls”. 

“This is definitely a milestone for Bahrain as the Kingdom has joined the international community in eradicating violence against women and girls,” said Samir Imtair Aldarabi, Director United Nations Information Centre For The Gulf States.  

Highlights of yesterday’s event include a meditation session with renowned Yoga Therapist Fatima Al Mansoori, Self Defense Demonstration with coach Ali Monfaridi and cartoon portraits with Salah Abu Idrees with a special contribution from the Bahrain Women Union and Guitaro Events. 

The 16-day campaign includes a series of workshops, seminars and other programmes. 

UNIC will also organise school visits as part of the campaign. The event will run until 10 December.
