ManamaThe International Association for the Evaluation of Educational Achievement (IEA) has released a documentary film on the Trends in International Mathematics and Science Study (TIMSS) 2015.

Results show Bahrain making the highest average achievement increase in mathematics compared to TIMSS 2011, by 45 grades.

TIMSS 2015 Tests National Coordinator Dr Huda Al Awadhi, said that the kingdom’s honourable results are the outcome of the tremendous efforts exerted by the Ministry of Education and schools to improve teaching.

Bahrain also succeeded in grabbing the first place internationally in TIMSS Numeracy 2015 test, which consolidates confidence in the Kingdom’s educational system, she said, extending thanks and appreciation to the 22,000 fourth and eighth-grade students who sat the TIMSS test and their teachers for the outstanding exploit.

Regarding the Education Ministry’s preparations for TIMSS 2019, Dr. Al Awadhi pointed out that preparations are in full swing to participate in the TIMSS field test in April 2018 through having the students answer the previous tests to identify their strengths and weaknesses, preparing training programmes for teachers, remedial lessons for students and following up on the performance of low-achieving schools.
