Bahrain to host MMA

The International Mixed Martial Arts Federation (IMMAF) announced that Bahrain has been chosen to be the first Arab country to host a MMA event next year just days after it became a member of the organisation.
This came during a meeting held by HH Shaikh Khalid Bin Hamad Al Khalifa, First Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports at his residence in Las Vegas US with the IMMAF Chief Executive Officer Denzin White, British Judo Federation chairman Kerrith Brown and vice-president of the IMMAF George Sallfeldt.
During the meeting they discussed ways of joint co-operation between Bahrain and the Federation in developing Mixed Martial Arts in Bahrain, other GCC countries and the wider Arab world in general, through programmes, events and regional tournament's.
Shaikh Khalid said the participation of the Khalid Hamad Khalifa Mixed Martial Arts (KHK MMA) team had been of great benefit and experience to learn about the capabilities of fighters from other countries.
He also also discussed ways to co-operate with Lebanon to boost the ability and development of Arab fighters and congratulated Lebanon's Sam Abi Nader winning a seat on the Asia International Federation of mixed martial arts board of directors and invited the Lebanese team to visit Bahrain and compete in mixed martial arts events.
The Second Amateur Ultimate Fighting Championships (UFC) concluded on Saturday in Las Vegas, US with the finals in nine male and four female categories completed.
