HM King: GCC summits will bolster regional cooperation

Manama : His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa received His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa and a number of senior state officials at the Al-Sakhir Palace yesterday.

HM the King reviewed the good results of the 17th Consultative Meeting of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) leaders, the GCC-US Summit and the Arab-Islamic-American Summit, hosted by Saudi Arabia recently.

HM King Hamad lauded the success of the meetings and the summits, stressing that they will contribute to strengthening the partnership relations and joint cooperation, disseminating the values of tolerance, co-existence and peace and strengthening the pillars of security, stability and peace in the region and the world.

The high-profile meetings will augur a new phase based on the consolidation of the stability and security of the region’s countries, and cooperation on confronting the current challenges in the midst of the rapidly-unfolding changes and developments witnessed by the region, HM the King said.

HM King Hamad lauded the efforts exerted by sisterly Saudi Arabia, under the leadership of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, to strengthen the status and capabilities of the Arab and Islamic nations, defend their causes and consolidate their cohesion and unified stances, stressing that Saudi Arabia is the cornerstone of the region’s security and stability, and its safety valve.

On the other hand, HM the King praised his “fruitful and successful” meeting with the US President Donald Trump, which, he said, will reflect positively on the two countries’ relations as it will strengthen the solid Bahraini-US strategic partnership.

The meeting also reviewed a number of topics pertaining to local issues in all the fields that serve the national development march, ensure the top interests of the nation, as well as those of the citizens and residents.

HM King Hamad also commended the role played by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister, in improving the government’s performance and leading it towards a new phase of distinction in which the best and easiest services are delivered to the citizens and residents.

HM the King extended, marking the near advent of the holy month of Ramadan, heartfelt congratulations to all citizens and expatriates, wishing them many happy returns.
