Man held for attacking family

Manama

An alleged drug-addict accused of attacking his mother, sister and brother was ordered to be kept in police custody for 30 days, pending investigations. The incident was reported to police by the brother, who was assaulted by the accused in front of police.

"I was in my apartment when I suddenly heard someone screaming. I went to see what it was, and saw my brother dragging my sister by her hair and brutally assaulting my mother," he told prosecutors earlier.  "After I interrupted, he attempted to hit my mother’s head with a bulb.”

“I called police and when officers came he attacked me in front of them," he added. The brother also claimed that the accused is a drug addict and he has previously assaulted their mother and sister a number of times. "One time he deliberately crashed my mother's vehicle into a wall. "And instead of apologising to her, he shouted at her in public," the brother concluded.
