Verdict on Oct. 12 in boy’s kidnap case

Manama

Five defendants accused of kidnapping a fellow country boy and beating him up will learn their fate on October 12. The defendants are said to have deemed the boy as an informer to the Ministry of Interior, according to court files.

The five reportedly kidnapped the boy while he was walking in the village of A'ali before taking him to an abandoned house. The incident happened during a sabotage event in the area, and the victim said in his statement that the number of his captors was seven, but police captured only the five defendants. "I was walking in the area while there was an ongoing protest. At once seven protesters came to me and forcefully dragged me to an old house, where they alternately attacked me," the victim told prosecutors.

"One of them put out his lit cigarette on my neck. They had initially told me that they were officers in plain clothes and they would torture me with an electrocution device. But then I learned from them that they mistook me as a police informer. They recorded all what happened and threatened me that they would upload the footage online if I tell people what had happened," the boy added.

However, the victim lodged a complaint about the incident, giving information about the attackers' facial appearances. The police managed to capture three out of the five assailants, while the identities of the remaining two people are still unknown.
