Almoayyed goes green

ManamaAlmoayyed International Group (AIG) announced it has installed a 20KWh Solar Energy Systems at its headquarters in Ma’ameer as part of the company’s “Go-Green” initiatives.

The move, according to one of the leading family owned business groups in the Kingdom, is part of its  “Power Strategy”, which is a four-year plan to reduce reliance on the conventional power grid and utilize the abundance of solar power.

The 20KWh solar grid power generating system, which is also the first phase of company’s long planned initiatives for sustainable energy, will meet the entire AIG compound’s lighting requirements, the company said in a statement.

AIG said it will showcase the pilot project to its clients over the coming months and will hold an awareness roadshow for solar and renewable energy options that it offers within its portfolio of services.

The solar panels are expected to produce 35921 KWh per year of the average lighting energy consumed by AIG’s operations. AIG added that the solar system implemented avoids 25.0 tons of CO2 per annum, an initiative to reduce carbon footprint.

After installing solar panels with LED lights, the group has reduced its lighting load to half and the initial investment for the solar system will be recovered in six years’ time period.

Almoayyed Trading & Contracting (ATC), an engineering division of AIG, commissioned the 20KWh solar panel.  ATC’s technical team is well equipped with the entire necessary infrastructure to provide timely assistance to customers and 24/7 service.

“We are delighted to add a cost-effective and low-maintenance solar solution to our businesses that can help address Bahrain’s energy and water challenges. I am confident that the solar system will help organisations improve their performance, eliminate electricity costs and boost competitiveness”, said Mohammed Almoayyed, Chairman of AIG.
