Bahrain marks World Rare Diseases Day

Manama : The Kingdom of Bahrain has marked the World Rare Disease Day 2017 throughout the month of February.
For this purpose, the Ministry of Health (MoH) organised public awareness lectures and entertainment programmes to patients of rare diseases and metabolic disorders organized by the Pediatrics Department in association with private establishments as part of community partnership.

The full-month campaign aims to increase public health awareness and to enhance cure potentials in cooperation with medical research centres, experts and community organisations as well as to explain the concomitant problems of rare diseases and to provide the necessary assistance to this segment of patients.

It is worth mentioning that the World Rare Diseases Day was celebrated for the first time in 2008 by the European Organisation for Rare Diseases (EURORDID) in a bid to deliver medication to all patients of such diseases and to support their families and to engage community networks in the provision of patient support .
