Reach consensus on issues: HM

ManamaHis Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa yesterday directed that procedures regulating the rationalisation of public expenditure should be based on agreement between the executive and the legislature, and through prioritising the issues that benefit middle and low income citizens.

HM also directed both the executive and legislature to arrive at a consensus during discussions of this year’s general state budget. Giving instructions to continue diversifying the national economy by supporting the existing sectors and creating new economic sectors, HM the King also directed the National Audit Office to follow-up on these policies without delay.

Earlier, HM the King received His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa at the Al-Sakhir Palace. Both reviewed issues of common interest, affirming that the next phase requires more efforts and fruitful work to enhance the Kingdom’s status and carry on maintain achievements.

HM lauded the tireless efforts of HRH Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, and HRH Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister and their keenness to adopt initiatives and programmes that support economic development and serve Bahrain and its people.
