Brave Boss invites Streep to watch a fight

ManamaBrave Combat Federation president has invited Meryl Streep to Bahrain to watch a match following her insulting comments against football and Mixed Martial Arts during her speech at Golden Globes last Sunday.

Brave president Mohammed Shahid aired the invitation when questioned about Streep’s speech during an interview with Bahraini media.

Streep during her winning speech at Golden Globes took a dig at the US president-elect Donald Trump, saying: “Hollywood is crawling with foreigners and if you kick them all out all you have to watch is football and Mixed Martial Arts.”

The MMA world, however, were not pleased with her jab with many offended fans tweeting their anger at her remarks.

Meanwhile, Donald Trump has hit back at Streep calling her a ‘Hillary lover’ and ‘one of the most over-rated actresses in Hollywood’.

However, Brave president decided to use the opportunity to give her a chance to watch the match in person.

“Mrs. Streep, you’re invited to come personally and get to know not only Brave Combat Federation,” he said adding that all her travel and accommodation expenses will be covered by the federation, which includes a first row seat for an upcoming brave event. Meryl Streep is yet to respond to the invitation.

Shahid, however, said he believes that Streep’s conception might come from a lack of knowledge about MMA.

Praising her contribution as the greatest actress of all time, Shahid said, “We felt really sorry about her words towards the sport we love, support, and work for.”

“But the truth is: we’re ready to change her mind and that’s why I invite Maryl Streep to attend one our events.”

“Her characters entertained and inspired us, and our athletes spent their life perfecting amazing skills that ultimately also entertain and inspire people around the world. We know she will be able to see it looking closer,” he said.

The opportunity provided by Brave, according to Shahid will be excellent for Streep to meet the people responsible for one of the MMA events on the planet that has attracted more fans than any other around in recent years.

Reminding about the cultural exchange Brave creates, Shahid said there are currently players from five continents in Brave’s roster. “We honestly believe that the greatest value lies in the cultural exchanges we promote every single day.”

“Instead of suppressing the individual manifestations and characteristics of a people, nationality or any other form of identification, we offer a global stage for them to be increasingly valued and exalted, and that’s exactly what she stands for, right?” he said.

The next Brave instalment will take place in March, when the promotion lands in Brazil for the first time, for a show in the city of Curitiba. After that, Brave returns to the Middle East and promotes a fight night in the Emirates.
