Policeman’s body laid to rest
Manama: The body of the policeman Abdulsalam Saif Ahmed was buried in Hunaniya Graveyard in East Riffa yesterday afternoon.
He was killed during an attack on the Reformation and Rehabilitation Centre (Jau) at 5:30 am on Sunday January 1.
The funeral ceremony was conducted in the presence of Chief of Public Security Major General Tariq Al Hassan and and hundreds of mourners. The prison attack led to the death of the policeman Abdulsalam Saif Ahmed and a second policeman sustained moderate injuries while confronting the terrorists.
Ten inmates, all convicted in previous terrorist cases, escaped after killing him. A terrorist cell of 4 to 6 members, armed with automatic rifles and pistols, was involved in the attack. Abdulsalam Saif Ahmed is survived by his wife and three children.
His wife who collapsed on hearing the news of her husband’s death is recovering in BDF hospital now.
