Setting quality standards

ManamaAPM Terminals Bahrain announced it has re-certified its quality management systems (revised ISO 9001:2015 standard) as part of its port master plan to maintain the highest performance standards.

The current ISO 9001:2015 accreditation will be valid until 2019 and audits will be conducted annually to monitor and confirm adherence to the newly revised standards. APM Terminals Bahrain has been an ISO 9001 certified organisation since 2010.

Established in 2006, APM Terminals Bahrain operates Khalifa Bin Salman Port and provides marine services within Bahrain and its coastal waters including container terminal activities, general cargo, RoRo, cruise and related port services.

APM Terminals Bahrain is among a select few organisations in the Kingdom to complete transition to the revised ISO 9001:2015 standard notably ahead of the 2018 deadline, according to a statement released.

Mark Hardiman, CEO of APM Terminals Bahrain said, “This achievement has also helped us establish a framework for continual improvement through better process flow, quality awareness and safety protocols, all of which have enabled us to contribute to the economic growth of the Kingdom and our customer portfolio.”

APM Terminals said a large number of projects are currently underway as part of the company’s continuous improvement programme, which uses “Lean and Six Sigma Methodology”. Among the recently completed projects is the re-organisation of the Container Freight Shed (CFS) that has improved efficiency and reduced waiting time for customers.
