GHG taps into Chinese tourism market

Gulf Hotels Group (GHG) has announced the opening of its first marketing office in China, Shanghai.

The move follows the recent launch of the new tourism campaign ‘Ours. Yours’ by Bahrain Tourism & Exhibitions Authority, which aims to further diversify the national economy away from its dependence on oil.

Gulf Hotels, Bahrain’s leading home-grown hotel group, said it is aiming to attract more Chinese tourists by co-operating with China travel agencies and conference organisers, and launching joint marketing initiatives which will highlight the diverse tourist attractions in the Kingdom.

The new office will make it easier for Chinese tourists and conference organisers to plan a trip or an event in Bahrain, the group said in a press statement.

Promotions and Initiatives

In upcoming months, the Group said it plans to launch several promotions and initiatives in China through a variety of workshops. Group representatives will also participate in events and tourism exhibitions aimed at increasing incentive travel, conferences and meetings in the Kingdom.

Announcing the opening of the office, Aqeel Raees, Chief Executive Officer & Board Member at the Gulf Hotels Group said: “The Group has appointed Stella Zho as Sales Manager at our Shanghai office. Stella is currently in Bahrain visiting many of Bahrain’s attractions.”

“The Group will further expand the Gulf Hotel’s meeting room inventory, adding to the current supply of 29 venues and believes that the far-east MICE sector is set to expand, which our China office aims to capitalize on. Additionally the Gulf Hotel’s leisure options have been expanded with the addition of a 2,500m² state-of-the-art spa offering separate men’s and ladies floors, VIP treatment suites, Hammam, experience showers, steam rooms, Jacuzzis, relaxation rooms and a variety of wellness treatments,” he added.
