Bahrain secured a rare dual leadership result at the International Sport for All Federation’s global congress in Italy, with two national representatives winning senior positions at a time when the federation is expanding its international footprint and adopting a new growth-focused strategy.
The General Assembly elected Issa Abdulrahim as President of the Board of Directors of the International Sport for All Federation for the 2026–2030 term, while Mohamed Almoudweb was elected as a member of the Board and appointed Assistant Secretary-General. The elections were held during the federation’s annual general conference hosted by the Italian Sport for All Federation in Civitanova Marche.
The outcome places Bahrain in two key leadership positions within the international body, alongside the approval of a new vision and strategy aimed at expanding community participation in sport, developing advanced training programmes, strengthening regional and international partnerships, and supporting initiatives focused on youth and women, while promoting sport as a way of life across societies.
Global Growth
The General Assembly meetings also announced the accession of new federations from European and African countries, reflecting the federation’s growing international reach and the widening interest of states in community-based sports programmes, strengthening its presence on the global stage.
Abdulrahim’s re-election was framed as a continuation of leadership at a pivotal stage for the federation, which is repositioning itself around community sport development, broader partnerships and global expansion. He has served as President of the International Sport for All Federation since 2008 and has held leadership roles in several Asian and international sports institutions.
Leadership Thanked
Issa Abdulrahim, President of the Bahrain Sport for All Federation and President of the International Sport for All Federation, extended congratulations to His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, and His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, marking the re-election as an achievement added to the record of Bahrain’s sports.
He expressed appreciation for the trust placed in him by the General Assembly and member federations and organisations, affirming his commitment to working in a team spirit and to developing the federation’s initiatives and programmes in line with international best practices.
Abdulrahim also thanked His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa for his continued support of the sports movement and his role in strengthening the presence of Bahraini competencies in international federations, noting that Bahraini leadership of international organisations reflects the national vision that supports sport as part of comprehensive community development.
Institutional Strength
The elections also resulted in the victory of Mohamed Almoudweb, Secretary-General of the Bahrain Sport for All Federation, who was elected as a member of the Board of Directors of the International Sport for All Federation and appointed Assistant Secretary-General, following a competitive electoral round involving 21 candidates.
Mohamed expressed his gratitude to His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa for his continued support of Bahraini sport and his leadership in empowering national talents to assume leadership roles in continental and international federations, highlighting the creation of a supportive environment for national cadres.
He said, “I am honoured to have earned the confidence of the General Assembly of the International Federation, and I consider this selection a strong motivation to serve the international sports system and to work alongside the Federation’s team, led by Issa Abdulrahim, to develop innovative projects that serve both the local and international sports community and contribute to further expansion and advancement of community sports initiatives.”
Mohamed is considered as one of Bahrain’s prominent sports administrators, with extensive experience in voluntary sports work, having previously served as General Coordinator of the Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa Award for Scientific Research in the Sports Field, worked in Arab and international relations at the Bahrain Olympic Committee, served as a local media officer with the Asian Football Confederation, General Coordinator of the national senior football team, and as a board member of several Bahraini sports clubs, in addition to his participation in multiple local and international sports initiatives.
