Mumbai: Renowned Bollywood playback singer Arijit Singh has announced his retirement from playback singing, marking the end of an era in Hindi film music.

The 38-year-old singer confirmed the decision on January 27 through posts on his private X account and Facebook, clarifying that he will no longer accept new film assignments. However, Singh emphasized that he is not retiring from music entirely.

“Hello, Happy New Year to all. I want to thank you for giving me so much love all these years as listeners,” Singh wrote.

“I am happy to announce that I am not going to be taking any new assignments as a playback vocalist from now on. I am calling it off. It was a wonderful journey,” he added.

Over the past decade, Singh has become one of Bollywood’s most influential voices, shaping the sound of contemporary Hindi cinema with chart-topping songs and emotionally resonant performances.
