Bahrain Olympic Committee Extends DP World Tour Partnership Until 2036

The DP World Tour has signed a new long-term partnership with the Bahrain Olympic Committee, securing the Bapco Energies Bahrain Championship on the DP World Tour calendar until at least 2036.

The extended agreement was officially announced during the opening ceremony of the 2026 Bapco Energies Bahrain Championship, which begins tomorrow at the Royal Golf Club in Bahrain under the patronage of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa. The tournament carries a prize fund of $2.75 million and forms part of the DP World Tour’s International Swing, following the Dubai Invitational and the Hero Dubai Desert Classic, the season’s first Rolex Series event.

His Highness Sheikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, First Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, Chairman of the General Sports Authority, and President of the Bahrain Olympic Committee, said the championship provides a high-level competitive platform and a prestigious pathway to major global tournaments. He noted that the renewal reflects international confidence in Bahrain’s organisational capabilities, commitment to sustainability, and dedication to strengthening global sporting partnerships.

Bapco Energies also confirmed it will continue as the tournament’s Title Partner until 2028. The company first assumed the title sponsorship role in 2025 after serving as presenting partner in 2024. The partnership aims to enhance the overall tournament experience while reinforcing Bahrain’s status as a world-class golf destination. The event has also introduced environmental initiatives, including the use of solar energy and battery-powered systems for hospitality and event infrastructure.

Mark Thomas, Group Chief Executive Officer of Bapco Energies, said the continued partnership reflects the company’s commitment to supporting world-class sporting events and Bahrain’s growing international profile.

It was further announced that the Royal Golf Club will remain the host venue for the 2027 and 2028 editions of the championship. Captain Waleed Abdulhameed Al Alawi, Chairman of the Bahrain Royal Golf Club, expressed pride in hosting the tournament and highlighted the positive feedback received from players, while thanking the club’s team for their preparation efforts.

Tom Phillips, Director of Middle East at the DP World Tour, said the tournament has rapidly become a key fixture on the tour’s calendar. He added that the extended partnerships demonstrate a long-term vision to deliver world-class sporting experiences, promote innovation and sustainability, and further strengthen Bahrain’s position as a leading hub for international sport, tourism, and business.
