Washington: Amazon MGM Studios’ Melania offers a behind-the-scenes look at First Lady Melania Trump in the 20 days leading up to the 2025 Presidential Inauguration. Directed by Brett Ratner, the documentary follows her through inauguration planning, the White House transition and her family’s return to Washington, with rare access to a sitting First Lady. The film opens in more than 1,500 theaters, with the studio targeting a $5 million debut.
Early box-office signals are mixed. While NRG projects a $5 million opening, exhibitors report uneven sales, with stronger turnout in conservative markets and select theaters in New York and Los Angeles. With a reported $40 million price tag and a Prime Video rollout ahead, Melania is being closely watched as a high-stakes commercial and political gamble.
