Riyadh: Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman has assured Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian that Riyadh will not permit its airspace or land to be used for military actions against Iran, according to a report by the Saudi Press Agency (SPA). During a phone call on Tuesday, the crown prince reiterated that Saudi Arabia stands against allowing its territory to serve as a launch point for any foreign strike targeting Tehran.
In the conversation, bin Salman also emphasized the kingdom’s support for peaceful engagement and diplomatic negotiation as the preferred way to address differences in the region. The call underscored both nations’ stated interest in encouraging measures that would enhance security and stability through dialogue rather than force.
The exchange comes amid heightened tensions in the Middle East, where concerns over potential military conflict have been fueled by recent Western military deployments. Iranian state media reported that President Pezeshkian told the crown prince Tehran is open to any lawful process that helps prevent war, highlighting Iran’s preference for conflict avoidance within the framework of international norms.
Saudi Arabia’s explicit position signals a strategic choice to avoid being drawn into potential conflict scenarios involving major powers while positioning itself as a proponent of diplomatic solutions to regional disputes. The broader message may also shape how other Gulf states respond to pressures related to escalating tensions with Tehran.
