Rajab published false news: Court
Manama : The Public Prosecution has referred Nabeel Rajab to the High Criminal Court after charging him with spreading false news about the ongoing military operation in Yemen as well as insulting the coalition military.
Capital Governorate’s Prosecution Chief Mohammed Al Maliki has earlier stated that the Public Prosecution detained a man after finding false news on his Twitter account regarding the ongoing military operation in Yemen, which is in support of the legitimate government.
According to the court files, Rajab published images showing dead children from the ongoing war in Syria, and pictured it as children killed in Yemen by the Saudi-led coalition. The defendant also reportedly published remarks considered offensive against the Ministry of Interior.
Rajab’s trial is scheduled for July 12.
