Indonesia, Bahrain Mark More Than Four Decades of Friendship and Growing Cooperation
Indonesia and Bahrain have built more than four decades of friendship based on mutual respect, shared values and growing cooperation, Indonesian Ambassador to Bahrain Ardi Hermawan said.
Speaking at a reception in Manama marking the 81st Anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Indonesia, Ambassador Hermawan said the relationship between the two countries had expanded across political dialogue, trade and investment, parliamentary exchanges, culture and education.
“As two archipelagic, Muslim-majority nations, we share a common hope for peace, tolerance and coexistence,” he said, highlighting the growing people-to-people ties between the two countries.
The ambassador also invited Bahraini businesses to participate in the 41st Trade Expo Indonesia, scheduled for October 14–18. The expo is expected to bring together around 1,500 companies showcasing Indonesian products, industries and investment opportunities, with a targeted transaction value of $17.5 billion.
He encouraged Bahraini businesses to use the platform to explore partnerships with Indonesian companies and strengthen bilateral trade and investment.
Addressing the regional security situation, Ambassador Hermawan said Indonesia stood in solidarity with Bahrain and supported its efforts to safeguard peace, security and stability.
He also expressed appreciation for Bahrain’s measures to protect citizens and residents, including the Indonesian community, during challenging times.
The reception was attended by senior Bahraini officials, members of the Shura Council and Council of Representatives, diplomats and members of the Indonesian community.
