Magomedov Bows Out of Kurash

Bahrain’s sole entrant Rasul Magomedov saw his men’s +90kg kurash campaign at the 20th Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya end in the round of 16 yesterday.
Magomedov was beaten 10-0 by Mongolia’s Duurenbayar Ulziibayar at Aichi Prefectural Martial Arts Hall, bringing the kingdom’s involvement in the sport to a close.
Kurash is a traditional Central Asian form of wrestling in which competitors attempt to throw their opponent to the ground from a standing position.
Ulziibayar was eliminated in the quarter-finals by Uzbekistan’s Bekmurod Oltiboev, who went on to claim bronze.
Uzbekistan’s Shokhrukhkhon Bakhtiyorov took gold after defeating Tajikistan’s Shakarmamad Mirmamadov 5-0 in the final, while Thailand’s Kunathip Yea-on secured the other bronze.
Competition continues until Tuesday.
