Prosecution vows to enforce Safaqat judgments

Victims can pursue financial recovery through the Civil Enforcement Court

The Criminal Enforcement Prosecution has reaffirmed its commitment to enforcing final court judgments and supporting victims in recovering their financial rights within the limits of the law, including those affected by the “Safaqat” case.

The Head of the Criminal Enforcement Prosecution said the Public Prosecution’s role continues after a criminal judgment is issued, covering the enforcement of custodial sentences, fines and court orders concerning the return or confiscation of funds.

He said the Safaqat case demonstrated the prosecution’s work throughout the judicial process, including investigating the case, questioning defendants, hearing witnesses and victims, tracing and preserving funds, examining related transactions and appointing a director to manage the funds before the case was referred to trial.

The prosecution also followed the case through different stages of litigation and exercised its right to appeal where legal grounds existed until the judgments became final and enforceable.

Following the final judgments, the Criminal Enforcement Prosecution began enforcement procedures, including implementing prison sentences and taking measures concerning fines and orders to confiscate and return funds.

The prosecution said a civil enforcement file was opened before the Civil Enforcement Court to begin the procedures related to the financial orders.

Victims who have been awarded compensation or whose funds were ordered to be returned may approach the Civil Enforcement Court themselves or through their lawyers to pursue recovery, in accordance with the procedures prescribed by law.

The prosecution also confirmed its readiness to cooperate with lawyers representing affected parties by providing copies of the criminal judgments, subject to applicable legal requirements.
