Bahrain, UAE Sign MoU to Advance One-Stop Air Travel System

Agreement strengthens pre-clearance cooperation, streamlines passenger processing and enhances border security.

Nationality, Passports and Residence Affairs (NPRA) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Air Ports Affairs Sector of the UAE's Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security to implement the One-Stop pre-clearance project for air travellers.

The agreement was signed in Abu Dhabi by Brigadier Abdulaziz Abdulrahman Al Dossary, Assistant Undersecretary for Ports, Search and Follow-up, representing Bahrain, and Dr. Hamad Saif Al Mashghouni, Executive Director of the Air Ports Affairs Sector at the UAE authority. The signing ceremony was attended by officials from both countries.

The MoU establishes an institutional framework for cooperation in implementing the project and facilitates the exchange of travellers' pre-clearance data in line with the highest standards of information security and data protection. It also aims to support the integration of electronic systems, improve operational efficiency and enhance the quality of services provided to passengers.

Officials from both sides said the agreement reflects the close cooperation between Bahrain and the UAE and will contribute to strengthening GCC cooperation, modernising border management systems, enhancing security and facilitating the movement of travellers.

The signing follows the decision by GCC interior ministers at their 42nd meeting to launch the One-Stop initiative as part of wider efforts to strengthen Gulf integration, modernise travel systems and improve the efficiency of security services through advanced technology.

Bahrain and the UAE officially launched the One-Stop project on February 16, 2026, connecting Bahrain International Airport and Zayed International Airport. The initiative allows passengers to complete entry procedures for their destination country before departure, reducing processing times upon arrival and improving the overall travel experience.
