Bahrain Store Closed After Expired Food Products Found
Bahrain’s Ministry of Industry and Commerce has closed a commercial establishment in the Southern Governorate after inspectors uncovered several violations involving food safety, product labelling and pricing requirements.
The violations were identified during the ministry’s ongoing inspection campaigns aimed at strengthening market supervision and ensuring businesses comply with Bahrain’s commercial and consumer protection regulations.
Inspectors seized several food products that either had no visible expiry dates or were found to have expired. The seized items included ghee, different types of pasta and frozen meat products that were being offered for sale.
Inspection teams also identified products requiring further checks to determine whether they met approved health and safety standards. Some of the products carried handwritten or separately labelled expiry dates on their packaging, prompting the ministry to seek additional verification.
The Ministry of Industry and Commerce immediately coordinated with the Ministry of Health to examine the suspected products and determine the appropriate action.
Following the violations, the establishment was closed in coordination with the Ministry of Health. Specialist inspection teams are also continuing checks at the establishment’s other branches as authorities prepare to take further legal action in accordance with the applicable laws and regulations.
The ministry stressed that inspection campaigns will continue across markets and commercial establishments throughout Bahrain, with a focus on protecting consumer rights and ensuring the safety and quality of products available to the public.
Authorities reaffirmed that businesses are required to comply with approved commercial, health and product safety requirements and warned that violations could result in legal action.
The ministry also urged consumers to report suspected violations through its official inspection channels, helping authorities identify unsafe products and strengthen market oversight.
