Aziza Janahi, a Bahraini mother in her thirties, died days after undergoing a mini gastric bypass at a private hospital, sparking her family’s call for a full investigation.
Janahi reportedly woke from surgery on July 12 in severe pain, which continued the next day. Relatives say a doctor dismissed her complaints as normal post-surgery discomfort. She was discharged despite the ongoing pain and breathlessness.
Her husband, Saud Al Shaikh, tried reaching her by phone before asking their 11-year-old son to check on her. The children found her unresponsive; paramedics later confirmed her death. A forensic report cited severe internal bleeding.
The family claims the doctor lacked bariatric training and later left Bahrain, which they view as fleeing. They are demanding answers on her care and discharge. The hospital has not responded publicly.
