Foreign Minister Al Zayani and Ambassador Waltz reaffirm strategic ties following emergency UN Security Council session

Bahrain's Foreign Minister Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani met with US Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ambassador Mike Waltz, at the US Permanent Mission in New York following an emergency Security Council session convened at Bahrain's request over recent Iranian aggression.

The Foreign Minister expressed appreciation for Ambassador Waltz's strong condemnation of Iranian ballistic missile and drone strikes targeting Bahraini civilian infrastructure and residential areas, while refuting Tehran's justifications.

Dr. Al Zayani also thanked Ambassador Waltz for his visit to Bahrain in early June, describing the talks as productive in strengthening the strategic partnership between the two nations.

Ambassador Waltz praised Bahrain's initiative to convene the emergency session and commended the Kingdom's efforts to protect its citizens. Both sides discussed ongoing US-Iran negotiations aimed at achieving a comprehensive peace agreement, restoring maritime freedom in the Strait of Hormuz, and securing regional stability and global economic interests.
