Bahrain made a winning start to their Arab Men's Volleyball Championship title defence with a straight-sets victory over Kuwait yesterday in Amman, Jordan.
Ivan Joksimovic's side prevailed 25-21, 25-18, 25-17 at Arena Hall to open their campaign at the 24th edition of the tournament.
Led by captain Ayman Haroona, Bahrain produced an effective attacking display, while their serving repeatedly disrupted Kuwait's reception.
Mohammed Yaqoob returned to the starting line-up after a lengthy absence through injury, providing a further boost for the defending champions.
Bahrain, who are chasing a fourth Arab crown after previous triumphs in 1992, 2008 and 2024, return to action against hosts Jordan on Friday at 6pm. They then face Saudi Arabia on Saturday at 4pm and Algeria next Tuesday at the same time, before concluding their campaign against Oman at 6pm the following day as the championship comes to a close.
