GCC Chiefs Review Security Plans

Chief of Police, Lt-General Tariq Al Hassan chaired the seventh meeting of public security chiefs from GCC countries at the GCC General Secretariat headquarters in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

At the opening, Lt-General Al Hassan conveyed the greetings and appreciation of Interior Minister General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, along with his wishes for the participants' success in strengthening Gulf security cooperation and coordination.

He reaffirmed Bahrain's commitment to supporting joint GCC action and strengthening cooperation and integration among member states, particularly in addressing emerging security challenges.

The meeting discussed the rapidly changing security environment in the region and the need to strengthen preparedness, exchange expertise and information, and share best practices to improve the ability of security agencies to respond effectively to emerging challenges.

The chiefs also reviewed progress in implementing decisions and recommendations related to joint security work, the status of GCC security projects, and the outcomes of specialised security committees. They also discussed initiatives aimed at strengthening cooperation and integration among security agencies.

The meeting included an exchange of views on issues of common interest and ways to develop coordination mechanisms to support regional security and stability.

Lt-General Al Hassan stressed the importance of building on achievements in GCC security cooperation, developing joint security initiatives and projects, and enhancing coordination among specialised agencies.
