The General Secretariat of the Shura Council welcomed members of the 14th cohort of the Human Rights Research Fellowship Programme, organised by the National Institution for Human Rights, as part of efforts to strengthen collaboration with national and civil institutions.

The visit aimed to enhance community engagement and promote greater awareness of the legislative and oversight functions of Bahrain’s parliamentary system, while also fostering parliamentary knowledge among young participants and emerging professionals.

As part of the programme, the fellows attended an introductory session outlining the structure and responsibilities of the Shura Council. The presentation was delivered by legal researcher Issa Sabt, who explained the Council’s role in developing Bahrain’s legislative framework within its ongoing democratic development process, as well as its coordination with the Council of Representatives in shaping national legislation.

The briefing also highlighted the Council’s contributions to drafting and enacting laws across various sectors, including human rights-related legislation, underscoring its role in supporting national development and legislative advancement in the Kingdom.
