Kingdom of Bahrain Hosts the 9th Extraordinary Meeting of GCC Undersecretaries of Industry

The Kingdom of Bahrain today hosted the 9th Extraordinary Meeting of the Undersecretaries of Industry of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) member states. The meeting was attended by the GCC Undersecretaries of Industry, along with representatives from the GCC General Secretariat and the Gulf Organization for Industrial Consulting (GOIC), to discuss a number of strategic topics aimed at strengthening Gulf industrial and economic integration.

At the opening of the meeting, Ms. Eman Ahmed Al Doseri, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Industry and Commerce, welcomed the participants, and emphasized the importance of the agenda items in supporting the competitiveness of the Gulf industrial sector and enhancing industrial integration among GCC , in line with the principles of the GCC Common Market.

She noted that recent regional and international developments, as well as the exceptional circumstances witnessed in the region, have underscored the importance of strengthening the resilience of Gulf supply chains and reinforcing joint cooperation and coordination among member states to ensure the smooth flow of goods and national products, while removing any obstacles that could affect trade exchange or Gulf industrial integration.

The meeting discussed several agenda items, most notably a proposal to address the localization criterion by industrial sector within the definition of a GCC national product, as well as the implementation plan for the lists of goods subject to collective protection. These efforts form part of broader initiatives to further develop the Gulf industrial ecosystem, enhance its competitiveness, contribute to sustainable economic development, and reinforce the GCC's position as an integrated economic and industrial hub.
